About the Mike Rowe Works Foundation Scholarship
The scholarship program is administered by the MikeroweWORKS Foundation, a non-profit organization that was founded in 2008 by Mike Rowe, the host of the television series “Dirty Jobs,” who is also a prominent advocate for vocational education and skilled labor.
The foundation’s mission is to promote and support education and training in the skilled trades, and to help close the skills gap in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and transportation.
It was established One of the unique aspects of the Mike Rowe Scholarship is that it doesn’t focus solely on academic achievement. Instead, the scholarship committee looks at a variety of factors, including a student’s work ethic, character, and passion for the skilled trades.
This approach recognizes that not all students are cut out for traditional academic pursuits and that there are many rewarding and fulfilling careers in the skilled trades that don’t require a four-year degree.
