The World Trade Organization WTO Young Professional Program of started in 2016 to provide opportunities for qualified young professionals from developing and least-developed countries that are members of the WTO to enhance their skills and knowledge regarding WTO and international trade issues.

Overview of the WTO Young Professional Program
The World Trade Organization (WTO) is a global organization that regulates and promotes international trade. As part of its efforts to nurture young talent in the field of international trade, the WTO has established a Young Professionals Program (YPP) that aims to attract and recruit young, talented individuals from diverse backgrounds who have a strong interest in trade-related issues.
The YPP is a year program that provides successful candidates with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of the WTO’s work, including research, analysis, policy-making, and technical assistance.
The program is designed to enhance the participants’ understanding of the WTO and its role in the global economy, while also providing them with valuable skills and knowledge that will enable them to contribute to the organization’s ongoing efforts to promote free and fair trade.
The selected young professionals are allocated to a specific division of the WTO Secretariat in accordance with the needs and priorities of the organization and based on the areas of interest of the young professional.
Eligibility for the YPP Program
To be eligible for the WTO Young Professional Program YPP, candidates must meet several requirements;
- being under the age of 32 at the time of application,
- possess an advanced degree in a relevant field such as economics, law, international relations, or a related discipline,’
- Candidate must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
- Candidates must also demonstrate a strong interest in international trade and a commitment to the WTO’s mission and values.
- Be fluent in English. A good working knowledge of one of the WTO’s other official languages, French or Spanish, would be an advantage
- Be a national of a WTO member state
Remuneration and benefits
- Monthly salary/Stipend: CHF 3,500.
