Goldwater Scholarship for Undergraduates
Barry M Goldwater Scholarship program seeks to strengthen the nation’s leadership in science and technology, it was established by Congress in 1986 named after the late Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater.
The scholarship provides up to $7,500 per academic year to cover tuition, fees, books, food, and housing and is designed to provide opportunities for American Undergraduate with outstanding academic records and the potential and commitment to a career in mathematics, natural science, and engineering.
Goldwater scholarship is the most prestigious undergraduate scholarship in science, mathematics, and engineering. The program allows U.S. colleges and universities to submit a maximum of four nominees for the scholarship each year.

The award is based on merit, colleges and universities are allowed to nominate only 4 of their undergraduate students each year for the final scholarship

Guideline for Application Preparation

Goldwater scholarship acceptance rate
The board of trustees of the Barry M Goldwater scholarship and excellence in education foundation chaired by Mrs. Peggy Goldwater Clay increased the number of the awarded scholarship to 408 college students in the united states for the 2021-2022 academic session.
Due to the increase in the number of awards in 2021, the total number of scholarships awarded since 1989 by the Goldwater Foundation is 9456.
From the breakdown of the 2021 Goldwater scholarship 1256 students of mathematics, engineering, and natural science were nominated by 438 academic institutions from the pool of estimated 5000 second-year students and juniors to compete for the scholarship.
However, 198 of the scholars who reported are men and 206 are women and nearly all of them are desired to obtain a Ph.D. as their highest degree.
Further breakdown of the 2021 scholars shows that 51 are mathematics and computer major, while 68 majors in engineering and 289 are majoring in natural science.
